Remembering Madiba-Nelson Mandela

It would have been Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday today. A courageous man who is known, worldwide, for his stance for human right, dignity, and freedom. He was born on  July 18, 1918, and died December 5, 2013. His life was a source of inspiration to many around the world. Imagine what the world would be today if we followed in his footsteps.

Madiba’s political and activist experience were marked with pains, disappointments, torture, incarcerations, inhuman treatment by the hands of his captors and yet on achieving freedom and power ‘forgiveness and mercy’ was his scepter with which he led his people.

The following are some of Madiba’s quotes on FORGIVENESS:

”As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”

”Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies.”

”You will achieve more in this world through acts of mercy than you will through acts of retribution.”

”If there are dreams about a beautiful South Africa, there are also roads that lead to their goal. Two of these roads could be named Goodness and Forgiveness.”

”Resentment is like a glass of poison that a man drinks; then he sits down and waits for his enemy to die.”

We at MHM join the world to celebrate this phenomenal leader who remains a source to all and sundry. Happy posthumous birthday Madiba – Nelson Mandela.
